Do you have to pay for plastic surgery upfront in Thailand? The answer depends on which payment you mean.

If you book a Bangkok Health Service medical and travel package, you pay part of the travel-package amount when booking and the remaining travel-package balance 14 days before arrival. However, you do not pay any part of the operation price to Bangkok Health Service before travelling.

After arriving in Thailand, you attend a physical consultation with the hospital and surgeon and pay a separate consultation fee. You then decide whether you want to proceed. If the final treatment plan is confirmed and you choose to continue, you pay the operation directly to the hospital before the surgery takes place.

Plastic Surgery Payment Timeline

  1. Send your enquiry and medical information.
Tell us which cosmetic procedure you are considering and complete the medical form. Relevant photographs and medical information may also be required.
  2. Receive an estimated surgery price.
Bangkok Health Service helps coordinate an estimated price before you decide whether to travel. This is a planning estimate, not a guaranteed final treatment price.
  3. Book the travel package separately.
If you choose a Bangkok Health Service medical and travel package, part of the travel-package amount is paid when booking. The remaining travel-package balance is due 14 days before arrival. These payments are not payments for the operation.
  4. Meet the hospital and surgeon in Thailand.
You attend the physical consultation, ask questions and review the proposed treatment. A separate consultation fee is payable.
  5. Make your decision and pay the hospital.
If you decide to proceed and the final treatment plan has been confirmed, you pay the operation directly to the hospital before surgery.

Three Separate Types of Payment

1. Medical and travel package

The Bangkok Health Service payment covers the medical travel arrangements stated in your individual quotation. Depending on the package, this may include accommodation, airport transfers, transport to hospital appointments and local coordination.

Part of this package amount is paid when booking, and the remaining travel-package balance is paid 14 days before arrival. The exact package inclusions should always be checked in your quotation.

You can review examples of cosmetic surgery and recovery packages in Thailand, but your own package should reflect your procedure, travel dates and practical requirements.

2. Consultation fee

A consultation fee is payable when you attend the physical consultation in Thailand. This appointment gives you an opportunity to meet the surgeon, discuss the proposed procedure and ask questions before deciding whether to proceed.

Follow the hospital appointment instructions for how the consultation fee should be paid.

3. Operation payment

If you approve the final treatment plan, the operation is paid directly to the hospital. This payment is made after the physical consultation and your decision to proceed, but before the operation takes place.

The operation is therefore not prepaid to Bangkok Health Service before your journey, and it is not paid after the operation.

Estimated Price Versus Final Hospital Price

Before travelling, you can receive an estimated treatment price based on the information available at that stage. This can help you decide whether the expected cost and journey are realistic for you.

The estimate does not guarantee that you will be medically suitable for a particular procedure. It also does not guarantee that the surgeon will confirm the exact treatment originally discussed.

The surgeon and hospital are responsible for the clinical assessment, medical suitability, final treatment plan and final hospital price. Bangkok Health Service coordinates the enquiry and planning process but does not make the clinical decision.

If you are comparing general costs before requesting an individual assessment, see our estimated plastic surgery prices in Thailand.

What Should You Confirm Before Travelling?

Before booking your journey, make sure you understand:

  • The estimated price for the operation you are considering
  • What is included and excluded from the travel package
  • The travel-package amount due when booking
  • The remaining travel-package balance due 14 days before arrival
  • The consultation fee
  • Which payments go to Bangkok Health Service and which go to the hospital
  • When and how the hospital requires the operation payment
  • The applicable booking, cancellation and refund terms for each separate service

Do not assume that one payment covers the travel package, consultation and operation. Ask for clarification before paying if any part of the quotation or payment schedule is unclear.

Bangkok Health Service’s Role

Bangkok Health Service helps coordinate the practical process. This can include receiving your enquiry, helping you submit your medical information, requesting an estimated treatment price, arranging the hospital appointment and planning the travel services included in your package.

The surgeon and hospital remain responsible for medical suitability, the recommended procedure, the final treatment plan, the operation and hospital care.

Request an Estimated Treatment Price

If you are considering cosmetic or plastic surgery in Thailand, start by sending your medical information and questions. Bangkok Health Service can help coordinate an estimated price and explain the relevant travel-package options before you decide whether to book your journey.

Complete the medical form to request an initial review.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I receive an estimated surgery price before booking my journey?

Yes. You can submit your medical form, relevant information and photographs so Bangkok Health Service can help coordinate an estimated price. The estimate is for planning and does not guarantee medical suitability, the final procedure or the final hospital price.

Is the physical consultation free?

No. A separate consultation fee is payable when you meet the hospital and surgeon in Thailand. The consultation allows you to ask questions and review the proposed treatment before deciding whether to proceed.

What happens if I decide not to proceed after the consultation?

If you decide not to proceed, you do not make the operation payment to the hospital. The travel-package payments and consultation fee are separate from the operation payment. Any applicable cancellation or refund conditions depend on the written terms for the relevant service and should be confirmed before booking.

Is the operation paid after surgery?

No. If you decide to proceed after the physical consultation and the final plan is confirmed, the operation must be paid directly to the hospital before the surgery takes place.
